Prep sports: Jason Carter, Lincoln OC

By Ed Piper

Jason Carter was La Jolla's head football coach in 2013-14-15. The former Texas A&M star QB/receiver is now Offensive Coordinator and Associate Head Coach at Lincoln High. The Hornets deluged visiting Inglewood 56-6 in Week 6 Fri., Sept. 22.

This exchange took place before the game, which was Homecoming at Lincoln.

Q: Take me into the mind of the Lincoln offensive machine.

We just to spread you out and make you cover every inch of the field vertically and laterally. We feel like we have a lot of guys who are talented. A lot of guys will be playing on Saturdays (at the next level in college) and maybe a few that play on Sundays (in the NFL). So we want to make sure they display their talents and put them in a situation to be successful.

Q: How does Akili (Smith Jr., junior QB) fit into that?

He's probably one of those guys who will play on Saturdays and play on Sundays. We're asking him to do more than he's ever done before, but he's very cerebral. He's a smart kid, and he can get the job done.
