A reporter drove by the Coggan Family Pool complex at La Jolla High after 11 a.m. Tues., Sept. 19, to take photos. The pool is still torn up for the maintenance, remodeling, and update work being done this summer and Fall.

Coach Tom Atwell's boys water polo team has its home opener scheduled for Coggan Wed., Sept. 20. What gives?

LJHS Athletic Director Aaron Quesnell, in answer to a question, texted: "It was postponed."

The schedule Atwell released earlier in September also shows home matches Thurs., Sept. 21, against Damien and LeJeune of Oahu. Those also aren't going to take place at Coggan.

The next obvious question: How about the next scheduled home game for Coggan Oct. 17 against Coronado, a Western League match? Do we hope for the pool to be prepared for that date?

Again, Quesnell: "Yes."

Photos taken by this reporter at the site reveal that quite a bit of work on the pool wall and bottom on the LJHS campus side still needs to be done. Also, the deck near the fence facing the high school campus is open to the dirt level--so deck installation and surfacing need to be done.
