LJ FB: Q&A with Jordan Lawson, defensive line coach

By Ed Piper

Jordan Lawson is in his first year as defensive line coach at La Jolla High. These comments were made prior to the Vikings' scrimmage Sat., Aug. 17, against Chula Vista at Valhalla High in the San Diego Friday Night Lights weekend of games.

How was the week of practice (leading up to the scrimmage)?

It was good. It was where we needed to be.

You guys did some good work?

We did some good work, but we can get in better work, so that's what today is for.

Who do you want to step up tonight?

Do you know who I'd like to see step? I'd like to see "Benny Lew" (Ben Lewis) step up. He's got experience, he's been here before, he's done this. He has the ability to lead, so we'll see what he brings today.

(Lawson didn't even know Lewis' formal name--he goes by "Benny Lew" in practice.)
