Christie Kim is a senior on first-year coach Mackenzie Newton's La Jolla High lacrosse team. These questions came before the Vikings' home game against Poway Wednesday night, March 20. Newton chose Kim when asked for a player to interview.

How is your team doing?

We're doing pretty good. We've won three of our four games, so we're on a roll, and we're excited to play tonight.

Who's your leadership?

Me and Sasha Franklin. We're the captains.

What are you guys working on right now?

We're working on different teamwork. We've had a couple of weeks together. We have new players, so we're working to build our team and build trust and play together, and get open for free shots.

Coach (Newton) is new head coach?

Yes. She just moved here.

What do you like to study?

I'm going to be studying nursing.

Where would you like to go?

The East Coast. I'm still hearing back from schools.

So you're total science? You took a lot of science?

Yes.

What do you like about nursing and science?

About the whole field. There's so much you could learn about it. It's very detailed, and I like that.

Good luck.

Thank you.
