In a MaxPreps preseason poll August 13, La Jolla's football team is ranked eighth in Division 2 in San Diego Section, with Christian--the last regular-season opponent of the year--seeded seventh, Bishop's third, and Point Loma first.
This is before any games are played, so it's a guess and a surmise off coaches, last year's records, and who's returning this year. That's why we play the games.
Overall, La Jolla, experiencing a surge of growth and success under Coach Tyler Roach, who is in his eighth year at the helm, is seeded 25th in the section.
Roach's Vikings open the season against Bishop's, trying to avenge a 28-7 drubbing in 2022. Point Loma plays host to the La Jollans during the Eastern League schedule, on Oct. 6 under the more-recent lights.
Rancho Bernardo, who comes to Edwards Stadium in week four on Sept. 8, is seeded in the 10th slot. Scripps Ranch comes to La Jolla in week two. The Falcons are ranked 14th.
