Coach Matt Oliver of Christian High responded to Jason Carter's comments (see earlier entry on my blog) Friday, Nov. 21, the morning of the Patriot-Viking second-round playoff game at Granite Hills High School.
"We're 10-0," Oliver said in a phone interview. "(Quarterback David Jeremiah)'s a great player. He was First Team, All-Central League.
"He may not have the quickest release, or a quicker release than their guy at La Jolla.
"But it works for us. Our record speaks for itself."
In comments Saturday, Nov. 15, Carter, coach of the La Jolla High football team, said, "He's an average quarterback," of Christian's Jeremiah, who has 2,000 yards passing this season. "He has a slow release. I'm getting that from video. Other coaches are getting the same thing. They want us to beat Christian for some reason. More than one coach said that."
