LJ FB: Q&A - Patrick Bugg, Christian High head coach

By Ed Piper

Patrick Bugg, Head Coach, Christian High football, pregame, Sat., Oct. 28

Q: So, no motivation and no history in this rivalry? (deadpan)

It's always been a great game (playing LJ) since I've been here.

Banged up is the issue (tonight). Both our quarterbacks last week. So it's gonna be a new look for us tonight.

Q: What are you going to do in place?

We'll try to be creative and get our best guys the ball--whether it's handing to them... It put a lot on us as coaches, so we had to get creative, and see how things work out. La Jolla has got a good team this year.

Q: What year is this for you?

Two.

Q: Do you have things you want to do? As far as limit them (La Jolla)?

The quarterback makes it go, so for us, keeping him contained. Trying to keep stuff in front of us and not let their wideouts get behind us. If we can tackle in space, I think we'll be okay.

Q: What has worked for you? I know it's been up-and-down. You're 4-5. What's worked for you when you were well, when the quarterbacks were in there?

Taking care of the football. That's been a big thing for us. Not giving them extra possessions, and being able to run the ball. That's what's been going this year. We just have to take care of the football.
