La Jolla's field hockey team, ranked number four by maxpreps.com in Division II, methodically carried out an execution of visiting UC Nov. 12, 7-0. Kelly Collins was a virtual goal-scoring machine, producing a hat trick to send the Vikings into the CIF playoffs.
Playoff brackets will be released Thurs., Nov. 13 in the evening. La Jolla most likely would receive a bye in the first round Sat., Nov. 15, and host its first opponent in the second round Tues., Nov. 18.
In the clinic-quality dispatching of the Centurions, La Jolla dominated time of possession and amassed numerous shots on goal in addition to the seven that found their mark.
Goalie Katja Sarain had little to occupy herself most of the game, as the Viking offense and defense controlled the ball handily.
