According to Patty Belardes, self-described "cheer mom advisor", the new LJHS Cheer advisor has been selected and will be introduced "probably in a couple of weeks."
The Viking Cheer squad performed another marvelous halftime routine at Homecoming Nov. 7, despite the fact the girls (and one boy) are self-coached. The three captains have continued in their leadership capacities ever since the previous cheer advisor, Kayla Fox, had to step down the week of the Point Loma football game last month.
"She is perfect for the job. She is experienced with cheer," and she will remain throughout the school year, said the cheer mom, the mother of Reign Salas, one of the Viking captains, about the yet-to-be-announced new advisor.
This means the cheerleaders, who have not been able to do stunts--high-risk maneuvers, including towers and flips--in the interim, will have an advisor in place for the upcoming basketball season.
The yelling was appropriate, since the LJHS
cheerleaders had just "killed it" in an excellent
self-choreographed routine at the 50-yard line.
