LJ b BB opponents: Rejean 'Boogie' Ellis, Mission Bay

By Ed Piper

Rejean "Boogie" Ellis, Mission Bay point guard

19 points vs. La Jolla, Tues., Jan. 16
26 point-per-game average
Year in school: Junior

EP: Congrats on the win. How did you feel playing together as a unit?

BE: We're playing pretty good. Today we came out pretty flat. We should have came out stronger, and we would have won by more if we would have came out stronger.

EP: Third quarter, they (La Jolla) couldn't put the ball in the basket. You didn't put them away. You led by 14, then you let them back in the game.

BE: We couldn't hit open shots. We'll hit them next time. We'll hit them next season. I believe in my teammates. They'll make those shots.

EP: (6'2" junior guard) Jaymarree (Norton)--he's pretty aggressive. He really adds something to what you have. Talk about that.

BE: Yeah, he's a great player. He's also our second-leading scorer. And when he's aggressive, that's when we're going.

EP: Last thing. You four played together as starters as sophomores. Now you're juniors. How has that helped you with cohesiveness, knowing what the other guy is going to do, to be effective?

BE: We have chemistry, and we play hard together. The team that is together the longest is the best team, because we know how to play together and we know where the others are on the floor.
