La Jolla's basketball team, coming off a narrow, well-played 58-54 loss to Mission Bay, the top-ranked team in CIF, Tues., Jan. 16, gets an invitation from the Buccaneers to play in their "Battle at the Bay" Sat., Jan. 20.

Jacob Ohara and Charlie Gal and company draw Francis Parker as their opponent in a 4:30 p.m. game at Mission Bay High. Parker, which has struggled so far, is the receiving point for three publicized transfers who should impact their program.

Host coach Marshawn Cherry, whose team is sailing at 18-3 overall, 5-0 in the Western League, tackles Foothills Christian, an annual basketball power, in a 7:30 tilt. That is the feature game of the event.

At present, Mission Bay is ranked number one in a poll; Foothills Christian third; and Bishop's 10th.
