Ava Wittenberg's club softball team was scheduled to play a morning doubleheader, with games at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m., Sat., Oct. 26 on the La Jolla High field.
Wittenberg is a senior who has played in the outfield for the Vikings' school team.
The team's coach is Andrea Denham, according to Wittenberg, who spoke to a reporter at La Jolla's football game at University City October 24.
"These are the last two games of the fall season," said the spunky softball player.
Good news for the school team next spring is that a freshman who pitches has enrolled at the school.
Last year, the Vikings didn't have a designated pitcher, and went through several arms in trying to fill out the innings of each game. Many of those games were called short of completion due to the 10-run rule. Things should be better in 2020.
