LJ FB 7, Lincoln 32

6-0. A baseball score.

But this was football. And La Jolla football.

For the Vikings, with a strong defense this season, down 6-0 with eight minutes left in the second quarter, this is a typical score.

But the opponent Fri., Oct. 18, wasn't Scripps Ranch or Del Norte. It was Lincoln, ranked number 10 in CIF San Diego Section.

So, after quarterback Jackson Stratton pushed in a touchdown on a one-yard keeper, host La Jolla's 7-6 lead was a brief one.

Soon, the Hornets' Jorge Aguilar, a goofy-footed kicker, bashed in a 40-yard field goal.

In the third quarter, Darius De Los Reyes rushed in a six-yard TD run. Lincoln led, 16-7, before the flood gates fell.

Midway through the fourth quarter, the Lincoln defense sacked Stratton in the end zone for a safety. By the time the Hornets' fourth quarterback, Sammy Cooper, a holdback freshman, ran the ball three times in a row got a total of 39 yards, the final one for a touchdown, the Vikings were down 25-7 with 5:46 to play.

The final score was Lincoln 32, La Jolla 7.

Coordinator used four QB in the game.

The boys from Imperial Avenue are loaded, with lots of weapons. They showed that, in size and speed. It was too much for the hosts' defense alone to withstand.

The Vikings drop to 4-4 overall. Lincoln moves to 5-3.

The game was a non-league encounter. La Jolla (Division III) stands 2-0 in the Eastern League. Lincoln (Division 1) is 0-2 in the Western League.
