3.37 is the average grade-point average for all La Jolla High football players this seaso n.
"This is the highest GPA we've had in the five years I've been Academic Advisor," said Jane Medrano during the Vikings' 39-21 win at University City October 25.
"It includes all grades (senior down through freshman)," the English teacher added.
"3.33 is the average GPA unweighted," Medrano said.
"Our citizenship grade is 3.63. That's everyone program-wide."
Rightfully so, Medrano was pretty proud. Not only does she tutor football players, she goes and finds them if they are not in after-school study hall and brings them back to her room to work on homework.
So, in addition to being at least co-Eastern League champions, her football players are performing very strongly in the classroom, truly bearing out the moniker "student athletes".
