In the first moments of La Jolla's scrimmage against visiting San Dieguito Academy, the Vikings dominated the ball, keeping it in the attack half. Forward Haley Mossmer dominated the scoring area in front of SDA's goal.

It looked like she was going to score a zillion goals.

The senior did net two quick shots against the stunned Mustangs. Then fellow senior Paxton Stolper got into the act. A while later, Jordan Wolf banged home a goal.

Mossmer followed up with her third score, a hat trick in little more than 20 minutes of the first half.

La Jolla led, 5-0. Yes, it was only the Vikings' preseason scrimmage, but SDA was on their collective heels, and the only thing stopping Coach Amanda Combs Warford's team from scoring more goals were themselves.

The performance portended for another successful campaign in 2019. The Vikings' objectives: Beat Canyon Crest Academy during the season. Move higher up the scale toward and with the elite teams of the county. Continue the program's strengthening under Combs Warford's skilled hands.
