I'm sure there are stories to tell. Besides making the (long) trip to Orange County on a raining day, the Vikings girls water polo team arrived in Huntington Beach on 2-2-2-pattern day--actually, Tues., 2-22-22--and vexed an Edison team, 7-6, in a cliffhanger.
Coach Amy Jennings' squad now moves on to a Thurs., 2/24 match against the number-one seed, Yucaipa, presumably at Crafton Hills College, Yucaipa's home pool. That is a 5 p.m. game. This is all under the CIF State umbrella, moving through the Regionals following competition in each respective section. (La Jolla represents the San Diego Section of CIF.)
Meanwhile, on the boys' side, La Jolla's boys soccer team goes the relatively short distance across town to Crawford's relatively new stadium, the first on-campus one in the Colts' long history, for a 5 p.m. CIF Division 4 semifinal game. The Vikings threw a whitewash over Mira Mesa, 2-0, in the quarterfinals at home Tues., Feb. 22.
