La Jolla's girls lacrosse team edged Granite Hills for a harrowing 6-5 victory in the first round of the CIF Division 1 playoffs on the road Wednesday night, May 8. The win advances the "ViQueens" to a noon match at Bishop's Sat., May 12, in the second round of the postseason playoffs. That match will be in the quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, the Viking boys team eked out a 10-9 win over La Jolla Country Day at home on the same evening, advancing to the Division 1 second round at San Marcos Saturday on the road--at the other end of the county in North County at San Marcos at 7 p.m. That match will also be part of the quarterfinals on the boys' side.
