La Jolla's girls water polo team defeated Carlsbad, 8-7, at Coggan Pool Fri., Feb. 2, to gain the number-two seed in the Open Division playoffs beginning Wed., Feb. 7.
Coach Amy Jennings' squad is paired against number-seven seed Grossmont in the lower bracket for the 7:45 p.m. game, in the bracket opposite Bishop's, the number-one seed.
Carlsbad, as a result of its loss in the seed decider, will face Helix, number six, in the 6:30 p.m. game.
The semifinals are scheduled for Tues., Feb. 13. The finals come Sat., Feb. 17.
