La Jolla High's boys soccer team, which reached the CIF semifinals last winter, opens the 2022-2023 season with a scrimmage against Lincoln High at Lincoln Mon., Nov. 14 at 5:30 p.m.
The Vikings also have a new coach, Pilar Flores, who is an alumnus of the high school.
Said Flores in a short phone conversation Mon., Oct. 24: "I'm trying to become a mentor for these boys--a little bit of life, experience, and direction; working with coaches. Trying to help them with life, college, and so forth."
Flores said tryouts for the varsity squad will take place at Edwards Stadium Tues., Nov. 8, Wed., Nov. 9, and Thurs., Nov. 10, from 6 to 8 p.m.
