LJ wrestling: Pena, 134, gets pin and decision in Poway tourney

In the Poway JV tournament Sat., Jan. 15, the Vikings' Daniel Pena pinned his first opponent and decisioned his second foe, before losing a bout and moving to the consolation bracket.

In all, Pena, a hard worker, wrestled in four matches and led a La Jolla High contingent of seven grapplers in all, including Emilio Valencia-Salazar and John Long, both of whom garnered four points in the tourney at the beginning of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday weekend.

The other Viking participants in the John Bright Memorial JV-Frosh Tourney included Sebastian Rivera, at 115 pounds; brothers Nicholas Sierra, 122 pounds, and Abraham Sierra, 128 pounds; and Gustav Rinaldi, 154 pounds.
