LJ g golf: Day 1

By Ed Piper

Head coach Aaron Quesnell and assistant coach Christie Quinn were pleased with the turnout of 17 girls for the first day of tryouts/practice at Riverwalk Golf Course in Mission Valley Mon., Aug. 13.

"We have our top six returning this year," said Quesnell, who two years ago was named San Diego CIF Section Coach of the Year, while Quinn, the nuts-and-bolts swing coach, garnered a National Coach of the Year award last year.

"Brea Tyrus is our number one. She shoots just over par," said Quesnell, one of the most organized coaches around, regarding administrative and media matters.

The others in the top six include Olivia Krasuski, Amalia Parzen, Chloe Kim, Ariela Feinberg, and Katie Graham.

Quesnell was very optimistic on the Pick Six's potential in league and CIF play this fall.

"We'll probably keep all 17 golfers," he said, related to the full turnout. He was smiling widely.
