Veteran Lexi Atwell was traveling with La Jolla's water polo team to a tournament in Irvine Friday afternoon, Dec. 4, when she commented via Facebook on this year's squad.
"We have five returning starters, and we are really excited," she said, tapping the keys as she rode north on the I-5. "We have a very special team. We are all really close and work really well together."
The coach's daughter is almost like a second coach in the pool, under second-year girls varsity coach Keller Felt. "Things are looking good. We are very optimistic and excited for this season, and we want that CIF championship more than anything," said Atwell, a senior.
