Coach Kristin "Jonesy" Jones opens the La Jolla High soccer team's season with seven returners and nine newcomers, including two freshmen, on the 2015-16 squad.
All-league sisters Phoebe Riley and Olivia Riley head the list of veterans, which also includes Emma McCall-Delgado, Nikki Collins, Sophia Bourne, Jessica Penner, and Trisha Turner.
The freshmen are Chloe Alexander and Samantha Smigliani.
McCall and Phoebe Riley front the offense as attackers, while Olivia Riley deploys on defense. Collins is another offensive cog. Bourne and the tall Penner weigh in on defense.
Seniors include Turner, Phoebe Riley, Bourne, and newcomer Sydney Davey.
Other additions to Jones' varsity are juniors Jaclyn Goldberg and Lucille Fitzgerald, and sophomores Naylea Beltran-Mendoza, Grace Dessert, Madeline Devitt, and Vanessa Shaffer.
Turner had to sit out the first part of the season last year after transferring from Serra High. She will get a full season this winter.
