La Jolla's Cheer Squad played a prominent role in Blastoff Sept. 5, as Kayla Fox's team performed an impressive series of stunts during its halftime show at the football game versus Bishop's.

New stunts included a flip in the air of a girl by the middle team in the formation, and a pair facing each other then falling opposite directions as dead weight into the arms of their supporting teammates.

These aren't very technical descriptions, but they'll have to suffice in the absence of a knowledge of stunting terms.

The girls were fast, crisp, and ready to shine. They provided a bright spot during a tough football loss for Viking faithful.
