LJ g water polo: Season preview

Second-year coach Keller Felt says the La Jolla water polo team is concentrating on building team unity at this point. "We have a large team this year, so right now we are really focusing on becoming a cohesive and supportive group," says Felt.

Captains chosen by their teammates include Kira Bruno, Lexi Atwell, and Claire Andrews. Juniors are Karli Canale, Sydney Boland, and Ciara Franke.

"Karlie is one of our biggest threats on offense," says the coach. "Sydney is a solid two-meter defender (in the post, in front of the goal). Ciara is the fastest girl on the team and also our starting set player."

At goalie, the Vikings have Bennett Bugelli. "She has made huge improvements and I look forward to seeing how she progresses during this season."

In sum, Felt says, "I'm lucky to have a solid senior class, with girls who have all played together since elementary school."
