LJ xc: Frosh/novice girls finish second

La Jolla's frosh/novice girls finished second among six teams in the highest placement of any Vikings team at the annual Bronco Roundup run at Kit Carson Park in Escondido Sat., Sept. 7.

Ninth-grader Scarlett Slagter finished sixth among the 61 finishers with a time of 15:14.7 over the hilly two-mile course run before thousands of people in the morning heat.

Classmates Nina Bonaventure and Addison Dutton went 12th-13th with respective times of 15:46.1 and 15:48.6.

Then, La Jolla's fourth runner, Ava Grudko, finished 24th at 16:48.4. Nicole Nunes, the final point-scorer for the team, was 36th with a time of 18:09.7.

The approximate temperature at 10 a.m., the time of the start of the varsity girls race, was 82 degrees. The temperature was a little higher than that for the novice/freshman girls race.


La Jolla's varsity boys placed 12th
among 17 teams in Division 2.
