Snapshot: Katja Sarain, goalie, field hockey

Katja (pronounced CAUGHT-juh) Sarain (pronounced sah-RYE-in, approximately) chatted after La Jolla's game against Scripps Ranch Monday (Oct. 21). She also plays softball, as well as other sports. Katja was willing to take the goalie spot this year, after last year's goalie(s) graduated, leaving the position vacant.

Person you admire: My grandfather, Frank Davis. I admired how adventurous he was and how much he traveled.
Plans for the future: A four-year university. I want to try to go to Cal Berkeley.
Dream career: Culinary
Comment on trying the goal-keeper position this year: It's been difficult, but I've been able to work through it and become a better goalie for the team.
