Viking senior Maddie Quach pinned her first opponent at 108 pounds in the Warriors of the West Invitational at Clairemont High Sat., Jan. 3. The time of her fall was 23 seconds against Zoe Wychico of Monte Vista.
After a loss, Quach dropped a bout to Sydney Lee of Grossmont in the fifth-place match.
In the 138 division, Becca Durst of La Jolla decisioned Khyla Adams of Scripps Ranch, 8-6. Then she pinned Lucy Talbot of Mount Miguel in 59 seconds.
After dropping a bout in the quarterfinals, Durst competed for fifth place against Talbot again, losing this time by medical forfeit.
Fellow senior Grace Roman started the day at 118 pounds with a pin of Haylie Perez of Scripps Ranch in 31 seconds. After a defeat, competing in the consolation bracket, the 12th-grader also pinned Kendra Camacho of Hoover in 54 seconds. Her day ended in her next match.
Sophomore Julianna Barron competed in two bouts at 113 pounds, against Dempsey Baker of Point Loma, and then in the consolation bracket against Audrey Castillejos of Canyon Hills.
