After a thrilling but stunning 11-10 loss to Bishop's in the CIF Open Division championship game Sat., Nov. 12, La Jolla takes the number seven seed into the Southern California Regionals Tues., Nov. 15, against JSerra Catholic in a 5 p.m. game. JSerra is the second seed, behind Newport Harbor, the top seed.
The Vikings, coached by Tom Atwell, feature 6'7" Kiefer Black and a host of other talented All-CIF individuals on attack and defense.
It will be "a long way to drive in a Buick", to use a phrase, to travel to the Lions' home pool in Orange County. That's the result of not going in as the top seed from San Diego Section.
Way back last summer, on Aug. 30, the Vikings were edged 14-13 by Serra. That game was played at
Coggan Pool, La Jolla's home pool.
