New punt/kick coach Patrick Nasiatka, an NFL free agent, on returning senior kicker Julian Zavala: "He's talented. He has the ability to play at the next level. I just have to get him there. Mostly, it's a confidence thing (because he has the talent part covered)."
Zavala kicked a 37-yard field goal during the varsity scrimmage Sat., August 9, without rushing pressure.
The senior also carried out a kickoff, just so that special teams could practice their formation and Julian could acclimate to the playing field after kicking for Head Coach Tyler Roach's squad a year ago. Kickoff returner Aiden Farrell, a junior, took the kick.
