La Jolla's boys water polo team got smacked by visiting Cathedral Catholic, 12-6, in the first round of Western League play Wed., Oct. 2.

The Vikings were coming off winning the tournament championship of the American's Finest City tourney in Coronado a week prior, but they ran into a juggernaut Don team which excelled at both ends of the pool.

Jett Taylor, a towering 6'5" sophomore, scored three straight goals in the latter part of the critical first period for Cathedral leads of 2-1, 3-1, and 4-1, from close range.

The lead grew to 6-1 late in the second quarter. La Jolla could not rally when the game was on the line in the first half, trailing 7-2 at halftime and 9-2 midway through the third period.
