La Jolla equalized the score at 5-all after being down 5-2 late through the third quarter, before dropping a 9-6 decision at Cathedral Catholic Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 23.
The match was the second Western League loss to the Dons, who manhandled the Vikings in their first matchup two weeks ago. But Coach Tom Atwell's La Jollans were much more competitive and in the game this time around.

In the short-lived comeback, senior Liam Flanagan scored with 2:26 left in the third period to make the count 5-3. Sophomore Dexter Black followed with two left-handed strikes at 1:42 and 58.9 to knot the score.
La Jolla looked focused and determined.
But then, just before the end of the third stanza, Cathedral's Eamon Bruhn sneaked a goal through, putting the Dons back in the lead, 6-5.
They never gave up the lead again.
