"An embarrassment of riches."
With the success of the La Jolla High football team in 2019, including the program's first league title since 1995, first CIF championship since 1993, and first-ever Southern California title (Division 4A), Head Coach Tyler Roach's players garnered a cornucopia of All-Eastern League honors in addition to junior Max Smith's All-CIF First Team award.
On offense, being named First Team All-Eastern League were junior playmaker Diego Solis and sophomore quarterback Jackson Stratton. Makai Smith, a sophomore who caught and ran the ball from scrimmage and also returned kicks, was named to the Second Team in his initial year at La Jolla High.

Kicker/punter Devin Bale, a junior, was named to the First Team on special teams.
From coordinator Charles Bussey's defense, named First Team All-Eastern League were the three lead linebackers, Max Smith, senior Jack Wiese, and junior Dirk Germon, as well as senior cornerback Calvin Hyytinen. Max Smith was also named the league's Player of the Year for his offensive and defensive contributions. (See separate blog entry.)
To the Second Team on defense were named junior linebacker Grady Mitchell, junior Luke Brunette, senior safety Finn Rice, and senior linebacker L.T. Shimp.
