Tyler Roach used two key words with his team after the Vikings' 29-21 week two loss to Central Union.
"I said it was a little humbling, and a little motivating," related the La Jolla High head football coach prior to his squad's tilt against Santa Fe Christian Friday, Sept. 15. "We talked about it with our captains." He said he felt that the coaching staff got things ironed out with the team.
"With the big crowd, and it being the first home game," Roach said, players had to make an adjustment. The event was the traditional Blastoff. An additional factor was rain, which started to fall right after halftime. Sprinkles and rain continued much of the rest of the second half.
As far as Santa Fe Christian, the Vikings' (1-2) opponent in week four of the season, the first-year head coach said, "Obviously, a tough opponent, a disciplined team. But we like our chances."
"We each give you different looks: Santa Fe Christian runs a wing-T. We're going to try to spread you out (on offense)."
