Senior Sakura Roberson holds the second-best time in La Jolla High girls track history in the 800 meters, 2:11.73, while her younger sister Sierra, a sophomore, stands sixth all-time at 2:14.39.
Sakura also has the third-best time in the 200 meters, 24.9 seconds, and fifth-best 100-meter time, 12.4.
The marks come up because the Robersons, coached by their older sister Deyna, and the rest of the Viking girls and boys track teams kicked off their 2017 seasons this week, with La Jolla High playing host to the three-way "Battle of La Jolla" Thurs., March 2, including Bishop's and Country Day.
Two days later, the Vikings traveled to Mt. Carmel High for the first day of the annual Mt. Carmel Invitational.
Stay tuned for more record-setting marks this season.
