La Jolla's field hockey team kept it competitive, but ultimately fell to top-ranked powerhouse Scripps Ranch 3-0 Monday (Oct. 21) at Edwards Stadium. The Vikings remain 2-1 in the Western League, an excellent 12-6-1 overall.
"We didn't play well the first half," said La Jolla coach Paula Conway. "We kind of were in shock. Then we played really tough the last 15 minutes. "So we need to piece together a good 15 minutes four times all the way throughout a 60-minute period."
She said senior midfielder Sophie Mazur, among others, has made a vital contribution this season.
The Vikings next travel to Cathedral Catholic Monday (Oct. 28) for a 6:30 p.m. contest.
