LJ xc: Girls run second at Section

The La Jolla High girls cross country team ran second at the CIF Section meet Sat., Nov. 20, with 50 points. They were runners-up in Division IV to Sage Creek, which finished with 22 team points.

Sophomore Kirra Fisk placed second individually, running 18:17.5 behind Stormy Wallace of Sage Creek, who finished the 2.96-mile course at Morley Field in Balboa Park in 17:20.9. Wallace is a senior.

Fellow sophomore Daphne Mayer finished fifth in 19:10.9, another outstanding performance for the Viking entrant.

La Jolla as a team finished 2-5-11-19-21 to accumulate their 50 team points. Junior Scarlett Slagter ran a time of 20:18.1. Freshman Chloe Lund, another young and promising star, was clocked in 20:49.5. Senior Sasha Backus was 21st in 20:56.6.
