to place first in the discus.
La Jolla's Jack Evans literally wore a battery-powered
set of lights on his left shoe (see photo above). The
battery(ies) is taped to his left shoe. I think
it was for Senior Day, Evans being a senior.

Eugenia Kritsuk's shoes on Senior Day
La Jolla's dual meet against Hoover took place
alongside a tri-meet among Coronado, Madison,
and Lincoln. All five teams competed
on La Jolla's track, with Viking head coach
Paul Byrne directing the simultaneous meets
from his mobile microphone on the field.
