La Jolla's girl athletes placed 15th at the state cross country meet in Fresno Sat., Nov. 27, a remarkable finish and a portent of more promising things to come in the next two years.
Running on a course stretching 5,000 meters (the metric equivalent of three miles) at Woodward Park, the traditional site for the state meet, Viking Kirra Fisk took 27th place in 19:03.3 and teammate Daphne Mayer 60th in 19:45.8. Both are sophomores. Look out in the Spring for track and next year in cross country.
Junior Scarlett Slagter placed 120th (20:58.6), freshman Chloe Lund 131st (21:12.5), and senior Natalie Courtney 140th (21:25.4).
