LJ b BB: MaxPrep rankings

In the latest available MaxPreps rankings, La Jolla (10-2) trails only Serra (14-0) among Eastern League opponents.

MaxPreps (maxpreps.com) has a formula by which it assigns each team a strength of schedule--if you play more Torrey Pines's, your strength number is higher; if you play more Valley Center's, it goes down.

Then, based on how your team does against its opponents, the online service (owned by CBS) places them in a ranking.

The most recent ranking doesn't include La Jolla's 75-58 drubbing at the hands of Carlsbad Jan. 4, so the Vikings' standing could go down.

Coach Paul Baranowski's squad, based on a sparkling 10-1 record through two tournaments in December, stands at number three in the MaxPreps listing. Serra, which has gained some media attention due to its early success, is one notch above at two.
