Senior Kaden Ward paced La Jolla's golf team by shooting a 79, with sophomore Justin Woods right behind him with an 80 and junior Nathan Wittkow at 81, as La Jolla placed fourth among Division 2 teams after the first day of CIF competition at Steele Canyon Golf Course Wed., May 10.
The Vikings made the cut for day two, which will be played at La Costa Thurs., May 18.
In addition to the Ward-Woods-Wittkow triumvirate, sophomore Nate Takata carded an 84, and number-five Gabriel Lopez, another sophomore, shot a 91. Coach Christie Quinn's crew finished ninth among all squads, including Divisions 1-2-3--quite a performance for the coastal school.

to each of her six golfers. Teammates practice
putting meanwhile.
