Before La Jolla High's boys' golf team's match at Torrey Pines Golf Course versus Cathedral Catholic Wed., April 27:
Serbian language lessons from Jovana Tvrdisic, Igor's mom, and Daria, his sister:
Zdravo (za-DRAW-vo) - Hi.
Kako si (KA-ko SEE) - How are you?
(Things maybe during a golf match or practice)
Bravo majstore (BRA-vo, MODGE-story) - Good job (maestro).
Pozuri (poe-ZHUR-ee) - Hurry up!
Udari tu loptu bre! (oo-DAR-ee too LOP-too bray) - Hit that ball, buddy.
Ajde pozuri (AHJ-day poe-ZHUR-ee) - Come on, hurry up!
(When I told Igor his mom and sister wrote down phrases for me, he looked at my notepad and nodded his approval. This was as Coach Christie Quinn's team hit balls on the nearby driving range.)
