Kirra Fisk, a Viking sophomore, burned an 11:25.09 time in the 3200 meters, a full three seconds ahead of the next finisher, to win the long-distance event at the annual prestigious Mt. Carmel Field and Distance Meet Sat., March 5.
Only two days after a home meet against Sage Creek, Fisk and her fellow La Jolla teammates had to put things together again at the Mt. Carmel competition on the weekend.
Daphne Mayer, a fellow10th-grader who often runs with Fisk in cross country meets and at other distances, showed her versatility by completing the 800 meters in 2:32.48, good for 17th in the nerve-wracking, enormous meet that draws athletes from across the county and beyond.
Mayer also ran the second leg in the DMR 1200-400-800-1600 meter relay, La Jolla finishing 14th. Her fellow relayers included Natalie Pong, Scarlett Slagter, and Chloe Lund.
Slagter finished the 800 meters individual contest in 2:35.03 at 22nd.
Viking senior Natalie Courtney ran a time of 6:09.49 in the 1600 meters, placing 53rd.
Chloe Lund is not looking too shabby either. Besides the distance medley, she ran in the freshman 1600 meters race, and filed a time of 5:56.78 for 11th place.
On the boys' side, Matthew Nunes of La Jolla raced in the 800 meters to 17th place in 2:07.50.
Isaac Chu was 25th in 4:39.25.
