La Jolla High head football coach Tyler Roach, in response to an inquiry about injured quarterback Jackson Stratton, said Monday night, Sept. 13: "Nothing yet. He'll see a specialist on Wed and hopefully we'll know more" (no period after "Wed" and no end punctuation in his text).
Stratton ran the ball on a keeper on the sixth play of the Vikings' initial possession Fri., Sept. 10, at Del Norte. He appeared to be shaken up after being tackled on the far side of the field from the La Jolla visitors' side of the field.
The deft passer played the rest of the first half, as La Jolla struggled and fell behind to the Nighthawks, 24-7. The Vikings (2-2) lost, 38-15.
La Jolla's opponent on Fri., Sept. 17, is Mater Dei Catholic, a private parochial school that traditionally fields a strong football team. The game is in Chula Vista.
Stratton's questionable status would point to back-up Justin Scully, who played the second half against Del Norte, and/or Kevin Steele, a 6'6" quarterback. (Jackson is 6'4".)
