Reed Farley was telling La Jolla assistant basketball coach T.J. Parry about his ACL surgery before the Vikings' game at Madison Sat., Feb. 11.
"They shaved my knee, so it looks pretty bald," he said, animated as always, showing his other leg, which still had its hair on it.
"They had given me anesthesia on the entire left (injured) leg, but that wore off yesterday," he said. "It was a pretty rough day."
"Today has been okay."
Wearing bright red shorts, the 6'4" senior had made his way across the Madison gym to the bench behind the row of chairs making up the La Jolla team seating area. He was now sitting, facing to his left with his wrapped knee resting on the gym bleacher.
He didn't look worse for wear. He got up during timeouts and stood behind his teammates during the huddle.
At points during the game, which the Vikings won, Coach Paul Baranowski spoke to his recovering star, who it is said will be able to make a full recovery to play for Harvard next season.
